GROW WITH US

The Full Story

Job Description: Design Associate

Position Title: Design Associate
Location: 629 W. Main Street, Suite 102, Oklahoma City, OK 73102
Duration: Full-Time

🌿 Help Us Design Life Outside the Walls!

A park that becomes someone’s favorite afternoon stop. A trail that connects a neighborhood. A gathering space that gives people a reason to stay awhile.

These are the kinds of places we love to create.

At Copeland Design Collective, we believe thoughtful outdoor spaces make everyday life better. We’re looking for a Design Associate who shares that belief—and wants to bring fresh ideas, thoughtful questions, and a little personality to the work.

You’ll work alongside our team from early concepts through construction documentation and site visits, gaining experience in both the creative exploration and the careful coordination that bring a place to life. Along the way, you’ll build your skills, contribute your perspective, and see how your work connects to something beyond the drawing.

What you’ll do

  • Explore the possibilities. Help develop concepts, test ideas, and refine designs for parks, recreation spaces, community places, and other outdoor environments.

  • Make ideas visible. Create drawings, presentations, models, and renderings using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Get to know the site. Support site analysis and research, looking closely at the people, surroundings, opportunities, and constraints that shape each project.

  • Dig into the details. Assist with construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation, learning how materials, grading, planting, and other elements come together.

  • Be part of the conversation. Participate in team discussions and client meetings. Share ideas, ask questions, listen closely, and help keep the work moving.

  • Step away from the screen. Join site visits and construction observations to see how drawings translate into places—and what the field can teach us about design.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in Landscape Architecture, or current enrollment with availability for full-time employment.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite, and a willingness to keep building your skills.

  • A portfolio that shows your creativity, design thinking, and ability to communicate ideas.

  • Attention to detail and an interest in understanding how things work.

  • Clear communication, thoughtful follow-through, and a collaborative mindset.

  • Openness to feedback and the confidence to contribute your own perspective.

  • Curiosity about outdoor places and the people who use them.

You don’t need to arrive with every answer. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, asks good questions, and is ready to contribute while continuing to learn.

Why join us?

Work that connects to everyday life. Help create places where people gather, play, move, unwind, and feel part of a community.

A team you can contribute to. Work with people who enjoy sharing ideas, solving problems, and having some fun along the way. Your perspective belongs in the conversation.

Experience beyond one piece of the process. Contribute across project stages and develop a stronger understanding of how design decisions carry through to construction.

Room to grow. Strengthen your creative and technical skills, learn alongside your teammates, and work toward professional licensure.

The chance to see it take shape. There’s something satisfying about standing in a place you helped draw—and seeing people make it their own.

Benefits

  • SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer matching contributions.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.) preparation support and reimbursements.

  • Opportunities to participate in industry conferences and team retreats.

  • Fitness-related expense reimbursement.

  • Paid time off.
